Brodsworth hall/gardens.

It is probably the best preserved and maintained house and gardens of the mid Victorian period; 1860 ish.

Here is a video postcard.

Didn't the couple that run Silver Hill get killed recently?
Sadly yes.

The web site is still active and think their son has taken over.

Zantedeschia Pentlandii

Seed has to be sown fresh; it is fleshy and doesn't 'dry out'. In the UK if anyone has a stock plant [I don't] seed will be ready in late summer. I've never seen it for sale in the UK, but I note it is quoted as 'hardy'. It may be possible to buy it from South Africa in their winter [our summer] whe...

Nelumbo Nucifera

I hadn't realised how hungry they are.

They seemed to need a lot of feed and fresh compost each spring.

I gave mine away! Too much like hard work for the few flowers I got.

Ouch.. (Tradescantis fluminensis)

Welcome to the board Judy,

It is usually available somewhere on e-bay.

It was 'the must have' plant a few years ago.

Then for most of us it became a pest!

I think it is more often passed between friends than sold now.

Thank you for sharing such a spring picture.
Look at the posting dates Henimon, these are autumn pictures of autumn flowering bulbs; but the thread stayed active into the spring!

Welcome to the board, where in Canada area you?

What is your climate like?

Rhododendron inkarho.

Inkarho rootstocks can in theory have any Rhododendron variety grafted onto them. After quite a lot of excitement when they were introduced several trials suggested they only extended the pH range slightly. An RHS study [why have the RHS not got this on their web site?] showed no benefit at pH 8. An...

Difference between Cooperi and Australis

But the fronds on the Bigger plants are extremely hairy so I would assume that yes it probably is an australis. I don't think that is right. Cooperi is furry and australis is roughly warty on the stipes [as Arlon has shown]. Good pictures of both [and almost any information you could want on potent...

Creating an Exotic Conservatory

It isn't just Devon.

The midlands have managed it too; even if that 'outbreak' was confined to a vivarium.

I am hoping to pick some seed up from the Stybing
e-bay at less than £10 looks a bit cheaper than a trip to Stybing; even if it may not be true to name!
