I have had a Phoenix canariensis_CIDP planted in my garden for about 11 years now and it is my biggest palm by far, the central spear pulled out today.... :( . "The 5 year rule"

Have you noticed that most Palms (planted in the ground) will sit there for 5 years, putting on root growth before they start to grow with vigour...then they romp away??

Dave those look fantastic and look like they have had a good watering, have you tried soaking them in a water butt or plastic dustbin, you will not believe how much water they soak up.

I bought three at the Palm Centre, they have 25% off at the moment.

I have been growing tree ferns for 10 years plus now and all I have given them in that time is Chicken poo pellets(when I can remember) and they seem as happy as Larry,you don't want to over feed tree ferns. I was also told you could use chopped up banana peel in the crowns, they get some slow relea...
