However, I would say that if I had protected with for example fleece, I may have been able to retain ...

How about getting one of these waterproof quilt covers? I have had tree ferns since the 90's and have been lucky enough to not have to protect them however, I will keep a quilt at the ready this year.

Re: New Garden photo's

Adam - The Yucca was bought in a small garden centre near by, if I come across any I will give you a shout. Nige - I am not worried about scent etc just want to cover the ugly fence! I prefer to have scented plants by my back door this is where the sun sets last so it is nice to sit out after work a...

New Garden photo's

Hi all, Here are some shots of my small garden. We only moved into the home in June so it is a work in progress. Next week I will be digging out a 8ft tree fern from my old place to give the new garden some height. I am looking for a tropical type climber to cover the back fence, any suggestions? Re...

My one flushed in July and is beginning to flush at the base now, shows what a half decent summer can do.

I echo what Rob said. I also planted a Butia out in the 90's and have never protected it and it is doing fine. icon_thumleft

Re: Butia eriospatha recovers after 2 year sulk

These palms seem to be tough little things once they become adjusted to our climate. Darren (Red Squirrel) sent me some seedlings which I believe he had left outside during the winter, I accidently did the same this winter gone and they are still alive.

Mike what sort of lows do you get in Kentucky?
