Re: Black bamboos leaves have all dried up

The 5 clumps of Bamboos I have all have dried up leaves, as have many other evergreen I have, due to 3 months of heavy and persistent winds! One of the few things that haven't suffered are my Trachys, which I find truly unexpected. icon_thumright

Re: Reaping the rewards of last years heat.

Thanks Kristen for the advice, but I have them trained against a fence and they are too big to move. Funnily enough I have a peach that flowers every year no problem. I didn't realise there was so much difference between the two species. icon_thumright Still I suppose the peach has the fuzz to keep ...

Re: Reaping the rewards of last years heat.

I think its all the unfortunates that prefer road kill to food banks. I shall have to find a squirrel tail or a feather to pollinate mine, tedious or what. I also think my two trees are still on borrowed time if it takes that sort of weather to obtain flowers. The only reason they survived la...

Reaping the rewards of last years heat.

Went out in the garden today and noticed The Nectarines covered in flower buds for the first time since I planted them 5 years ago! I thought it was due to the mild winter we have just had, however I then engaged brain and realized It was due to the hot dry summer we had last year that had ripened t...

Re West Wales in for a hammering on last friday in Feb.

Good thinking Dave. :) Any way both myself and the BBC weather were wrong! :ahhh!: The temperature rose and it started to rain around 22 hrs last night, the snow has gone from the mountains and all we have now is a layer of Dragons breath a third of the way up the mountains, which always look nice. ...

Re: canary island dandelion tree

I saw this plant last year in the Canaries, up in the misty mountain tops in La Gomera ( not sure if the spelling is correct.), It felt cold and I needed a coat on! I dont know if it takes a frost? Looks worth trying though. I tried to find seed, but was unsuccessful. icon_thumright EDIT I've just b...
