Importing palms

Hi all,

anybody got any experience with importing any palms - specifically looking for a Chammy of a decent size but not stupidly priced which they all seem to be in the UK.

Cheers

Re: Where to buy a mature Chamaerops humilis

mmm from the sounds of them I think I will leave em and source an alternate elsewhere. I dont want a skinny short one, I want a big fat one with at least 1m of trunk - ideally multi trunked to give it some wow factor. Will have to see what I can get imported I think.

Re: Where to buy a mature Chamaerops humilis

After posting the link to The Palm Centre, I did rather like the look of a large 'Cerifera'. I phoned them first and all the large one's are gone! So I'm not sure what stock of C. Humilis they have..............I did send an e-mail enquiring about trunk sizes as the sizes shown on the website are a...

I saw that but they look a bit skinny for my tastes - perhaps they have separated it from a bigger bunch?

Re: colocasia gigantea

I got one (well actually, alocasia calidora) - arrived today and seems OK. Was £4 + £3 postage, so not bad. Is it what they say it is? or too early to tell? I specifically bought the Calidora - sorry for the confusion. Just trying to start the bulb now. Yeah I get that but is it a Calidora that you...

Re: Where to buy a mature Chamearops humilis

Summer sale, August Bank Holiday. Summer sale could be the one I wait for then unless 1 pops up from elsewhere, I would imagine I will have moved house by then (fingers crossed) so will be looking to purchase after the move really. Ive been once to the palm centre around 10 years ago when they stil...

Re: Where to buy a mature Chamearops humilis

I do keep looking on there but they seem rather pricy for the size Im looking for - (although there are 2 that look splendid!)

Any other suggestions? (or potential sales dates at PC?) :)

Where to buy a mature Chamaerops humilis

Hi All,

I'm in the market for a mature Chamaerops humilis (poss cerifera), at least 1m of trunk (maybe 1.5m). Anybody got any good places to purchase from (good also equals nicely priced). I don't want to go overboard on price but want a good sized tree..

Cheers

Re: A haunting view of a closed exotic garden

The pics were from 2012 - is there anything still left there? I would be keen to "rescue" (nab) a few freebies from there if anything was still surviving....
