Yep its a Delonix regia. I brought some seed pods back from Tenerife a few years ago, dead easy to grow but difficult to overwinter even as a small seedling they tend to trop there leaves. I have seeds of both an orange and a yellow variety that i have not sown as they are not at all hardy..if anyon...

Dave I hope you have all the safty gear including safety trousers or chaps, my brother in law is a tree surgeon, I have seen a pair of his safety jeans after he had a saw kick back at him, if not for the Kevlar fibres in the trousers jamming up the blade he would be minus a limb now.... if not dead ...

Becky where did you get the canna's from? if they were brought as rhizomes then i would get rid of them unless you know they came from virus free stock. the virus is spread by aphids so if you have virused stock and you have active aphids then you are in trouble. Greg they are fast growing, brazilienesis will grow from seed, flower and set new seed in a season, even if they do not get that far you will have strong plants for next year so give it a go :D , if the ones you have brought came from dutch stock i would not take the chance, if you know what you are...

Robin the yucca came as a freebee from John Prescott, the plant was over 4mts tall and weighed a ton, the only way to move it was to cut the heads off. the heads lost all there foliage to start with but once potted up they have resprouted and have full heads again now (will take and post a pic later...
