Beautiful
So glad they got there,so far you're the first person other than Dave to have received them to my knowledge.Yours were posted about 5mins before the post office shut last night,so not a bad turn around at all
Hi kris Doesn't look like gigantea to me mate. The first thing you notice with your plant is it's got glossy leaves, not many colocasias hav a glossy leaf, fontanesii and a few others but definitely not gigantea. Yours looks to me like it's a remusatia maybe or even am alocasia icon_scratch The leaves...
Missed your post Scott My thai giant looks nothing like NBD's plant in leaf shape Who's is the correct plant? Can't tell you,but what I can tell you is mine came from kentgardeners huge plant, that came from Briansbotanicals If thats not good enough for you,do a quick search to find the pics of it la...
Well,Nicebutdims leaf looks completely different to mine, but as I've stated before mine came from a plant that acheived epic proportions last year.So difinitely a thai giant. Your plant Amber looks very much like mine did when I got it last summer, with an almost heart shaped leaf.Same colour to the ...
Well I haven't checked any websites, but being as my sister lives just northof Auckland thought she'd know what the weathers actually like Spoke to her this morning(whatsapp again)and it's currently piffing down, local slang I believe for raining  Don't have to believe me on that though, just my w...
I'd best put my name down on the waiting list for the day you do decide to dig it up then Dave  The variegation on the leaves is very nice, very much like a variegated alocasia mac,but nicer I seem to remember Mark bought a variegated arum from pheonix or maybe cgf a few years ago. Think that on...
Looksvery nice Dave
Not sure I'd try digging that lot up either, maybe in a few years time once the variegated bit starts propagating itself it'd be worth doing.
Well the eBay pics look like my Thai giant and I also grow gigantea so can tell te difference between both. My Thai one came from Kentgardener John last year when I visited him. We took it straight from the mother plant that was immense in size. His plant originally came from brians botanicals when ...
Well done on getting the Thai giant!
As for size,Kentgardener John managed to get his to well over a metre last year.
The pup he gave me is doing well, but nowhere near that size yet,but there's still more than enough growing time left to get near that
That's an awesome sized leaf Jim
My little Thai giants half tg size of yours weighing in at 51cm
It's currently running in joint second here with my alocasia calidora (both came from John) being beaten by alocasia portora with it's 65cm leaf
The other main difference is the fact you can't grow them from seed as they're an edible dessert banana. Basically what you buy in the shops are cavendish bananas so the only way you'll end up with a cav is by buying either a tc'ed plant or pup
