Re: Hupor's Hardy Horticultural Blog

Your garden looks pretty good after the winter.

I am amazed by your Fargesia; I can only see the tip of one new culm starting to come up.

Re: Early Spring pics

You certainly have some very interesting plants. What is the fern in the red pot? Some sort of Blechnum? Your Daphniphyllum looks very healthy. Mine is slightly smaller and the latest leaves look stunted after the cold spring last year, but I am hoping that it will put on a decent flush of growth th...

Re: Planting ideas for a new border.

The fence is now in and work can start, however I didn't really consider the shadow the fence casts when I was thinking about planting. This photo is at solar noon today and 6 months of the year will get less sun than this. Certainly shady border then. Ferns obviously come to find. Podophyllum, Epi...

-5C this morning, yuck!

Things haven't grown so much this year so far so there was little that needed protecting (unlike 2 years ago!)

Re: Pots for Palms

Another thing is that whilst they would restrict the amount of rainfall falling into them during the winter they would also take a lot longer to water during the summer for the same reason.

Re: Pots for Palms

Bit of a butter to get the palm out without destroying the pot though when it is time to pot them on!

Re: Astilboides Tabularis

The cheapest courier I have found is Hermes and they would charge £4.20 for delivering a parcel up to 2kg.

Have you had a really good look at your local garden centres and nurseries? 3 out of 4 of my locals sell this plant.
