Here's mine the first photo was taken when i received it from Carolpz the second picture was when it was planted out in April 2010 unfortunately it got hit by frost and completely defoliated and the third picture was taken a couple of weeks ago

Hi Michael, It sounds like you have fungus gnats or as MH calls them mushroom flies as MH said the gnats wont do any damage to your plants but there larvae in the compost will eat the plants roots they tend to prefer very damp/wet compost so if you can let compost dry out a little this might help ge...

first thing i would do is contact the company you employed to fell the tree there insurance should cover all damages caused you never know you might get a new Dicksonia antarctica and your one should still recover

that is a good point yes it is fresh manure your best bet then is a dairy farm i would say. There is a dairy farm on the Hapton road just past the railway bridge as you would be coming from yours its called Vally farm it would be worth asking there if you havent got one closer

Miggs is there any dairy farms near you :?: my grandad used to buy about 4 ton a year from his local farm, most farms will happily delevier it to you for a small fee. I use horse poo 50p a bag you can find it all over Norfolk theres a farm near Hempnall that puts out about 20 bags every weekend :wink:

Hi miggs, i cut the logs down from a local unclassified country road (old un-tarmaced road) which runs through my local farmers land the UCR is the responsibility of the county council but the farmer turns a blind eye to me collecting fire wood from there :D

Thanks for the info Francis my seeds are in tupperware boxes with vermiculite and perlite mix the temps range from 25c min (night) and 30c to 35c with the occasional 40c in the day time i haven't had any movement yet but i was aware these can take a while so i wont give up hope yet :wink:

Well i didn't have any luck this time all my seeds went moldy and rotted i think i will have to try and clean the seeds in a anti fungal wash next time.

Thanks MH i have been looking for somewhere that sells palm seedling for a while, I have just put my fathers day pressie order in 4 Butia eriospatha, 2 Butia yatay and 2 Jubaea chilensis all small seedlings and best of all because its my fathers day pressie my wife is paying for them :lol: and hopef...

Hay chumleyrobert would you care to elaborate on that, all the advise here in the UK is to soak the pot for 3 days or treat the planted ones to a good drenching through out June to bring on a flush

One thing i will say is if you do buy a secondhand g/house buy some new ali nuts and bolts for putting it back together i didn't when i bought mine and some bots snapped whilst undoing them but even more snapped reassembling the g/house, buy them of ebay as i could only find them in packs of 5 at si...
