I would go with a nice big Trachycarpus or Waggie from Nigels that is going to survive, mine arrived yesterday, very happy with it.

Not sure if its classed as an exotic but where i live Himalayan Balsam (Policeman's Helmet) has become a bit of a weed, there are thousounds of them naturalised on fields, footpaths, peoples gardens, i actually think its a nice plant and cant help but pop the seed head when they go to seed. :lol: ht...

Easiest banana to grow from seed?

Just wondered what experience others have had from trying bananas from seed?

What are the easiest to grow?

Not tried any bananas from seed yet so not bothered which ones i try just want to try the easiest/best germination rate ones for now.

Also any hints/tips would be gratefully received.

I have three. One planted out, two potted and all survived winter just gone with -10C as the low. Wrapped the one planted out and not a mark on it. Musa Basjoo - Is this normal?

So my first banana leaf has started to open but it seems to be tearing like its trapped?

This is the first year that i have overwintered a banana and im worried iv done something wrong? :(

So where is the best place to plant these? sun/shade/part shade.

Went today, got a Phormium for 50P, no idea what kind and i dont know anything about these plants, how tall/spread, growing conditions but i couldnt resist picking it up for 50p :lol: , bit tatty at the minute but hope in a few months will be ok.
