Brugmansia survives winter outside and thrives
This variegated brug has been in the ground since last year. Last winter it saw -6C and was only protected ... summer heat and the winters are milder, I think this is a good alternative to growing brugs (in the milder parts of the UK anyway): at the first frosts, let the thinner stems ...

Where to get a Brugmansia Grand Marnier (and when)
... this year. Just wondered where it is recommended to get hold of one ... and when they start becoming available? I notice on eBay that many Brugs are simply called 'Red', 'Pink' etc .... what species would these be generally?

If I'm going to get a Brugmansia ...... which one?
I have never had a Brug, but this year's the time. It's going to be in my conservatory, so very bright and warm, with frost free (but not heated) over winter. What are my options regarding a nice, reliable (but easily available) type to get?

What is the consensus on overwintering Brugmansia?

will brugs branch below the Y if the Y is cut off?
My in-ground brug has its Y point at around 4ft above the ground level. I was thinking of wrapping, say, the lowest 2ft of the trunk to keep it alive over winter. But the question is: if the trunk above the wrapping gets mushed ...

First Brugmansia flower of 2013 season
I have my first Brug flower of the season this morning, and when they start this early they tend to flush throughout the summer and autumn. I think it may have made a mistake choosing today to open, I would have waited until the approaching storm had passed.

can you grow solandra like a brug?
... taken a soft cutting from a Solandra tree growing in a public park. I've never heard of it being popular or successful in the UK the same way that brugs are, and the flowers are as beautiful, so I'm wondering if it's not vigorous enough, doesn't flower in our climate freely or doesn't take dormancy ...
