Colocasia ID
Thought I'd bump this up again after a few years to see if more light can be shed on this mystery Colocasia. It was bought as a dry tuber of Xanthosoma violacaea. Once it grew it was obvious I had a Colocasia. The similarity with the deep colour of the stem was obvious but ...

Colocasia
Hi there, After performing some research I'm a bit confused as to the water requirements of Colocasia, some places say they need continually moist conditions and others don't. Basically I've got a SW facing raised border and was wondering if I could get away with planting ...

Arrival of a new colocasia plant question
Hello I have been waiting to order Colocasia gaoligongensis for some time. It just came available so I got 1 and it arrived yesterday. It's my first colocasia and I'm unsure of the best way to keep it over winter. In a pot or dry as I wasn't ...

Red Spider Mite - Alocasia v. Colocasia
I’ve generally been a Colocasia man but, they always do horrendously in the conservatory as they’re a Red Spider Mite magnet. I use neem oil to good effect, but the leaves still end up a write off. The ones outside are fine, but indoors ...

Colocasia gaoligongensis as an aquatic/semi-aquatic?
Right, I've managed to track a tuber down and should take delivery this week. I have two questions:
1) I am hoping to grow this as a semi-aquatic in dappled shade. Will this work?
2) How should I plant it up and keep it prior to moving in to the water?

Starting off colocasia esculenta
Hi all
Just received delivery of 3 colocasia bulbs and was wandering when (time of year) and how most people plant out their colocasias. Do I need to start them off indoors and provide extra heat?
Any good tips or pointers would be great.
Thanks in advance

... tried to grow a few tropical plants and we have created a lush tropical garden at a local park. The star of the show was going to be a large Colocasia burgandy stem. we are currently over wintering our plants in a heated greenhouse running at about 16 degrees C. Most of the plants still look ...

Colocasia Jack's Giant not affected by -1.5C
I didn't have time to dig out Colocasia Jack's Giant and Xanthosoma violaceum before the frost of Tuesday 19th Nov, as it took longer than expected to get other plants out. All would not have been lost as I am going to dry store these this ...
