Best place to start?

Hi guys...sorry if this is not the place...but over the next few years I would like to try and convert my entire south facing garden into more of an exotic theme. I live in east yorkshire so winters are normally long and wet although not that cold (last winter being the exception). Where is a good r...

Re: autumn & winter forcast

I've been following weather patterns for nearly a decade now and I must admit it doesn't look good at all for this coming winter in terms of it being a mild one. Very much doubt it will be as cold as last winter (thank goodness) but all the signs are that we could be in for at least an average to co...

Re: Dicksonia antarctica different species?

My largest produced the shuttle cock shaped fronds this year BUT its initial crown of 20+ fronds were damaged by frost and the bizarre shape was the next batch. Over this year it has recitfied itself by sending out fronds that have given it a more uniform "normal" shape.

Re: Have a few dicksonia problems

Sorry to hear you have lost three. Are your remaining ferns in pots? How often have you been watering them this summer? I hope they pull through.

Do you water yours?

Thought this might warrant a separate topic? During the winter months do you water your Dicksonia Antarctica? I have read a lot this year about watering the trunk during winter but not the crown. I have never watered mine at any point during winter so wondered what the best thing to do is please? Th...

D. Antarctica fanatics...how are you protecting yours?

Hi guys...i've been looking for a site like this for ages. I have seven D.A's in my garden which range from 5' to 1' in height. It all started about 8 years ago with a two foot one and my passion has gone from there. In fact I would have my entire garden full of them if I had the money! I live...
