Re: BBC2 8pm tonight
About time too - they're always saying that the gardening season never ends and that even in Winter there's stuff to be done, but Gardener's World doesn't carry on over Winter? Hope they're gonna be a bit more regular this year as they were kicked off for just about everything last year!!! Still, lo...

Re: How's your knuckles? (Tree Ferns)
Last time I checked there weren't any in the 2ft B & Q one we got last year, but I'll check again this weekend. When we bought it last year it only have 6/7 fronds on it but they were huge, and it did come potted with a rootball. Some of you may have seen my post a couple of weeks ago about how ...

Hey Mark, Sorry, can't be much use for giving cultivation instructions, but a couple of months ago in chat I was asking what plant this was and we concluded that it was some type of Tradescantia, but apparently not! They look very similar, here's one from last Summer growing at a local garden; http:...

Some great pics John - nice to see a few flowers early in the season, even if they are in a rainforest environment! I'm assuming that Cycad was one of the ones outdoors?

Looks fab Greg, great potential there and I can already imagine what it'll look like! Love the idea of planting tree ferns all the way up the walkway, can't wait to see more pics in Summer!!!

Re: Big, bold hardy flowers
Would have said Dahlias here too grub, but you could give Gladioli a try as well. I bought some bulbs last year but never got around to planting them  So am hoping to try again this year with some fresh bulbs, as there are some really stunning varieties in the GC's at the moment, and all sorts...

Hi Tony, Thanks for doing this, I'll definitely be following it! Might give them a go myself too. Just wondering, in your third pic (the one after 10 days), there's only one leaf but a load of stem stuff floating around in the water - were they other leaves emerging/roots/a crumpled stem for the alr...

Re: Bristol Botanic Gardens - photos
Some great pics, Francis - thanks for posting! I guess you can't really expect much to be happening in gardens (especially the more tropical ones) at this time of year, but that tree fern and cycad dell should look great in Spring/Summer, with all the fresh fronds. Can't wait to see pics of that 8) ...

Nice to see the flowers Nigel, they're very exotic in my opinion, and especially welcome at this time of year! We saw some in a local Garden Centre the other day that had flowers on, but they were so expensive  Like others, mine has also been rather toasted, although the other day when we cut...

Tony - if you're referring to the large Colocasia bulbs, they must've had them in by this time last year as I planted mine on 15th Feb, maybe they're just a bit late this year?
