May be a Dracaena, but it isn't Dracaena draco - that has much less stem growth for the number of leaves.
Here's some Dracaena draco seedlings for comparison

Re: Global forestwatch
Already seen this; it is very inaccurate - you only need to see the moorlands of the northern Pennines (deforested centuries ago) being shown as 'forest loss in 2012'. Somehoe their software tags heather moor as 'recently deforested' land.

Re: Southern Spain, or southeast Northumberland??

As you no doubt know, the Sacred Ibis has also increased it's Northern range into France so we may eventually see more of them here too although it may not be so welcome as they are predatory. They'd be less...

Re: Southern Spain, or southeast Northumberland??
I'd say both. If the winter had been like the last few, I doubt it would have survived up here. The previous Northumbs Glossy Ibises were all in late summer / autumn.GREVILLE wrote:Is this recent siting down to current winter climate, increased numbers or both?

There have been quite a few around the UK in the last few years and even overwintering here sitting through some really cold weather. I remember there was a flock of around 20 in Wales a year or two ago. We had one on Wareham Common two years ago but I didn't get as good a pic as this one. As other...

Re: Difference between Trachycarpus wagnerianus and Trachyca
It has smaller leaves and slower growth than most Trachycarpus fortunei . Otherwise, no difference at all. 'Wagnerianus' is just a semi-dwarf cultivar group of Trachycarpus fortunei . So asking "what's the difference" between them is a bit like asking "what's the difference between a ...

If everything has a purpose on earth, why would nature create such devastating storms? ... It doesn't! No weather has any purpose icon_thumright If it did, one would have to believe in some sort of divine control, with the logical conclusion that the almighty had been consuming too many beans . . .

Incredible to see even the moon getting blown about and then blown right away  I was using high magnification, on the moon, and leaning against the window to steady my arm, but the window was being bowed and flexed. That's why when there was the sounds of a big gust I had to recentre on the Mo...
