Re: Yucca flowering
Thanks all to help identify the Yucca. Yucca recurvifolia it is then. This was started as a pup over 20 years ago. I have had to cut some branches off over the years as would get laden with snow and nearly snap the whole plant. Bit of a juggling act to balance the branches. It is in a very sheltered...

Not sure if any of the members here have seen this before, I think it is an excellent tour. http://www.palmpedia.net/wiki/index.php/PALMORAMA_PAGE As it says turn up the volume and click on the photo! Once inside the garden click on the small 'mask' icons to tour the rest of the garden, move mouse a...

Will Giles on TV
Anyone see his design garden on Thursday evening on a programme called 'SMALL GARDENS? HOME channel on cable. Showed quite a lot of his own garden in Norfolk and then set about a task in a garden near Alexander Palace. I think it was originally shown on BBC, but first time I have seen this (luckily ...

Re: Why aren't my Cannas growing?
Good tip which always work for me:- Place rhizomes near surface, buds upermost, in a suitable sized pot in ordinary compost (which is just moist not soggy!). Place pots in an airing cupboard near hot water tank. It will get 30C plus! so keep an eye on soil and water sparingly to keep moist. Check da...

Re: Looking for an eerie plant......
That looks great Adrian! nice plant. I do have a few bats hovering around the garden in the evening, perhaps they might suck the nectar!? I will have to look that plant up.
Heres another pic just now!

Looking for an eerie plant......
Hi All,
Just thought I would share my eerie ghostly pond complete with ghost koi. What I would like to complete this area of my garden is an exotic, moisture, low growing, part shady plant right in the middle of my stream fork (next to cyathea medullaris), any ideas?

Hedychium gardenarium rhizomes
Hi everyone, Never grown these before so looking for some helpful tips on starting these off. Bought some healthy looking rhizomes with buds showing. I was thinking of potting these up (near surface) in just moist compost and placing in airing cupboard until new growth shows. I do this with my canna...

Re: Chicken pellets offer
By the way. Has anyone made a liquid feed from pellets. If so, what is a good recipe.
I.E. How many pellets do you put in a 1 gal. watering can and how long stewing time for best results.
Thanks.

Don't know if anyone has mentioned this before but Wilkinsons are selling 7.5kg pots of poultry manure for £4.99 (50% free). Normally nearly £10 in GC's for 5Kg.
