Re: Concrete block decking piers.

No, because with posts you dig down thru the softer top soil etc into something more substantial. Good point icon_thumleft when I make decking a ...

Re: Yorkshire Kris blog March gardening, sleeper video 2

Have you thought about putting perforated drainage pipe in the channels at the bottom of the ditches? It's available fairly cheaply at most builders merchants and I think it would drain better than just gravel which may get silted up. i personally went with augering about five 6inch wide holes with...

Re: Yorkshire Kris blog March gardening, sleeper video 2

Ive seen my videos appear on several gardening sites and always disappointed that they didn't contact me first., simply bad manners. I wouldn't say no though. I let the videos appear as public on you tube so cant rea...

Re: Arundo donax

It's hardy up here to at least to minus 10 if not more. Grows to about 8 foot and stands up to wind quite well. It's best to cut most of it it down in spring and let it grow up again from ground level. In Spain it's appararently very rampant but probably not that bad over here. It likes lots of mois...

Re: Yorkshire Kris blog March gardening, sleeper video 2

Its really coming along now! The drainage should be excellent at the top part of your garden for succulents and cacti, is that the plan? Bog type plants like gunnera at the bottom? That is exactly the plan although I'm debating whether to have the arids somewhere else..... Maybe the front garden or...
