Totally agree about the pitch, we paid hundreds of millions for a stadium to play football in.

I'm not a McClaren fan but don't see him as the underlying problem.

Hi David I have only got a small Phoenix canariensis_CIDP myself, which I overwinter in the greenhouse, wrapped in fleece, so I can't help much with personal experience. I intend to keep it in a pot, moving it into the greenhouse in winter, for a few years yet. I visited Paradise Palms to buy a Buti...

Thanks for the link Alexander. I wonder how much damage minus 20 did. Interesting photos of the basjoo winer protection.

John - at least we can recognise the names. What a stroke of luck that Dutch Latin is so similar to English Latin.

Also, dare I say this, the alocasia leaf in the centre looks like it needs a little work.

Not that alocasias aren't great. They are. The best....

Thick white stuff everywhere, basjoo & musella looking very sorry for themselves. 0 deg minimum in the greenhouse. I have pots in the greenhouse which are plunged into the gravel border. The sensor in the gravel, about 5" below the surface, showed a minimum of 4 deg. Interesting - will keep...

It might be worth the money Libby if you save it back on the leccy bill, but I suppose you'd only find out by trial and error.

Doesn't seem to be a lot of kit for the price though.

It drapes down like a curtain (or a drape!) inside, so that there is bubblewrap on all sides, and above. Pity I forgot to get some tape for the joints. By the way Dave, have you ever seen these? http://www.twowests.co.uk/TwoWestsSite/product/HEBN.htm Seems like a good idea, but a bit steep on price.

I've been moving the thermometer, a little digital one about, inside the bubblewrapped bit, outside of it but still in the greenhouse, outside of the greenhouse. The temperatures hardly seem to change at all (about 4 deg just now). However the minimums recorded over the last few weeks tend to show t...

Been frantically bubblewrapping part of the greenhouse this afternoon, although to be honest I'm not clear how much good this does without a heat source.

Curses. Meant to dig up that oleander. Oh well.
