I'm not sure about Tetrapanax being suitable for a dry spot.
I've tried a few and they all died and I was told here it was due to not being watered.

Re: Is my Washy dead?
I have a Brahea edulis, which looks similar to washies and is leaf-hardy. I probably shouldn't have bought the washy as the garden has enough palms and there is no room for more (eventually) large ones.

Re: Nicotiana Glauca
It's interesting that some people in the UK try to grow plants that are considered weeds in other countries. These include N. glauca, Arundo donax and Ricinus. Their weed status in the Mediterranean is not necessarily due to their invasiveness, but their look. But I guess they can look better when c...

Re: Chamaedorea radicalis
Do we now have more data on the hardiness of the trunking form? I have one trunkless one and am considering getting a trunking one. Also this is listed on ebay as the trunking form, but the broad leaves would suggest it's the trunkless form... but then again it may be because it's so small. Any thou...

Is my Washy dead?
Planted as a small plant last year, it got defoliated last winter and is still not showing any signs of life. Should it have started growing new fronds by now?
All my other palms survived and are actively growing, including the Brahea edulis.

Hello again! Does anyone know what happened and what's being done? Are the old threads being recovered or are they lost forever? I believe lost forever. :( Now I see the old threads are still there, I just didn't see them because I was using "View active topics". Should be re-indexed by G...

If chance is 50/50, then 63/37 sounds much better than chance!
That's almost 2 out of 3 times right.

Re: Warm watering .......
The water in my cans warms up to around 45C at this time of year on sunny days, and I use that directly on the plants (in the evenings of course). I orient the cans to SW on the days I'm out, and when I'm in I re-orient them several times during the day to be slightly ahead of the sun (to last me lo...

It would be nice to have 120 days of 30C+ temps I hope it materializes.
The garden would need a lot of watering though...
