Re: musa ae ae,roots have gone brown

all i can add is that if the roots were dying, the plant itself would look much worse if not totally dead by now.as already said,it needs a warmer drier potting mix, maybe a drop of tomato feed or something similar..palm booster might burn the roots if you found some, its not good for everything

Re: Help me decide Rhapis or Parrotts

Go for the Rhapsis and get yourself one of those CD's that plays rainforest birdy sounds .

sounds perfect to me keith.no mess,no ties, just a can of water once in a while, and good profit if it grows well enough to repeat the process if it takes off

Re: B&Q Plants

wait til september and the 50% off label will go on.ok you might miss the boat in the meantime but you would be paying a fairer price and have all summer to find cheaper better plants

Re: Basjoo Rollers

Jase its a problem with some maurellii, the new rollers start to produce gradually smaller and stunted leaves, these seem to get stuck as they emerge in effect strangling the plant. The only solution is to decapitate the plant below the point that it strangles, once done if the plant is of sufficie...

deb had a good idea, bit late but there ya go.she suggest put some fleece in the split, for the time being anyway and train it to grow two trunks.given time, would grow into a unique talking point

Re: Trachys in Sarajevo

trachys are the way forward for garanteed palms edo.so tough you have to be unlucky to lose one unless you go for a known less hardy form. im putting a few more trachys in this year so i have something to stare at other than rotten fried palms next year if the crappe weather returns.i appreciate thi...

Re: ricinus germination

Darren, I bet there are many more poisonous plants in your garden that you didn't even know about. Many common garden plants are poisonous. Ricinus just has a bad rep thanks to russian spies. Many of us who grow them have pets and children but not one of them has dropped dead yet. i can imagine mos...
