Re: Long time

by kata » 02 Dec 2012 15:23 I was at EPS yesterday, just pop in now and again. I think you need two places to hang your hat as no babbling allowed at EPS.... Worse than EPS. I asked about a flower (Calendula) from a member who was on here as well, someone was livid and the catagorie was quickly del...

Re: Trachycarpus takil kalamuni

Be warned Joolz, its a very strict forum, not much by the way of banter like here. icon_cheers Kata what on earth do you mean you make the EPS sound like a load of killjoys. A large number of the EPS members are the same posters on here as well and on GOTE. Nigel thanks for your positive words on t...

Re: Morocco and Chamaerops cerifera.

I must make an effort to get back onto EPS icon_thumright I think I have learned to agree to disagree on this, and many other clashes between botanists, and collectors. Hi Dave it would be good to see you back on the EPS. Your input was always valued and we have missed you. Back on the chamaerops i...

Re: New palm book coming soon.

Kris as you were following the thread on the EPS you will know I already queried with them that Amazon were cheaper but they said the Amazon price had now gone up. It pays to shop around as you have found.

Re: New palm book coming soon.

The EPS has been offered a special price for the new version of the Encyclopedia of Cultivated Palms. We are happy to pass this offer on to the other forums. If any one wants more information have a look at http://www.palmsociety.org.uk/forum/topic.asp?boardid=1&show=31&page=1&topicid=55...

Re: Takil bursts through

Its a worry when you post out anything these days whether it will get there. Some of the EPS hybrid seeds recently sold at a very high price on ebay never reached the purchaser.

Re: Takil bursts through

One of my takil seeds has started to push up through the compost today icon_cheers it's one of the EPS seeds, I have about 8 that have germinated so far but this is the first to show itself. That's really good news. I started with over 4,000 and have 140 left so there are going to be loads of takil...

Re: Serenoa repens

I have tried one and it was not very hardy. In a normal winter they will come through possibly with damage but a severe spell of winter weather will wipe it out, even if well wrapped up. They are expensive and as said previously and not that much different to a chamaerops which is a far better buy. ...

Re: which plants have survived the cold snap

Its much too early to list the survivors. On palms you need to marker pen the spear and over a period of time see that growth has taken place. My eriospatha was doing just fine until June last Summer and then the spear started to shrivel and given a tug the whole centre pulled out. It did make a com...

F2 = mother plant is jubaea crossed with a butia , when this get big and set seeds it is again crossed with butia. Anyone have any experience with these? I certainly have a jubea x butia that came from Nigel when we met at a Kew Gardens a few years back. (The cross could be the other way round) I d...
