Well the first pic is not T. wagnerianus but it has a more compact growth habit, thicker trunk, slightly smaller stiffer leaves.

The second pics is from a palm with a very open habit, thin trunk, and large leaves that have drooping leaflets.

I may be wrong, but I'm sure it had something to do with farmers? i.e. they needed the lighter mornings. Farmers here in Canada get up with the daylight and work til sundown ... it doesn't matter what the hour is named, 6 am, 7am or whatever. Carol ... in North America we need uniformity with time ...

Thanks Dave ... glad to have you welcome me. Yes, even over this way, it's quite difficult to aquire and I was fortune to have this one given to me by a fellow palm enthusiast. I will spare it from the worst weather until it gains in size.

Here's my Sabal 'Birmingham' that was planted this year. It was in a gallon pot (strap leaves) and was quite root bound so rather than move it up to a larger pot, I planted it.
