My Clivias come inside for the coldest part of the winter, they just get mushed by frost for me but keeping them dry and in a cool dark place guarantees flowers in the early spring. I guess it a reflection on the summer if they have flowered already.
The one in the pic looks a nice specimen.

Re: Went out for Paraffin came home with.....
I saw a £90 Dicksonia antarctica for half price - 4ft I'd say. Not sure if £45 for a Dicksonia antarctica so late is still a good deal though - do you think it'd be okay over winter if I bought it now? Yes, the only time of year to buy them, go for it. I got mine from B & Q's in the past - 50% ...

Re: Dragon fruit
Charles,
Does the Oxypetalem survive OK in the greenhouse all winter? Heated or unheated?
I have a small one, I only bought last year, 'cos it was so fleshy I pampered it and brought in to the house for fear of it getting mushed up in the cold. No flowers yet.

Re: Dragon fruit
Charles, patience is a virtue, but mines running out, I know I should wait longer but its not the most exciting looking plant. The 6ft long aerial roots tend to like to attach to the conservatory walls, which are dry, that's what made me think it might be a lithophyte. If you want some of it just P...

Re: Figs
We have a white fig, I believe to be the Marseille. I reckon it was from Homebase and they had more this year. They are extremely vigorous growers, fruit well and according to my neighbour, the fruit is delicious. These fruits are pale green on the outside and pinkish inside. The plant was in the gr...

Feed it Provado, 'bug surprise' is the household name we use, just in case any of those eaters were Vine Weevils...
Nasty surprise, what comes next if you do have VWs in there, believe me.

Give up any hope of using the conservatory, turn the radiators OFF and squeeze in as many plants as possible, under the table, on the table, on the floor & in the roof....Gaz wrote: What does everyone else do for winter warmth?
Does amuse the neighbours.

Re: Brugsmansia BergKoenigen
I bought this Brug from Jungle plants earlier this and it has finally produced one flower icon_cheers The only problem is that it looks a lot different from the original picture on the jungleplants website :? Anyone else grow this particular Brug? I do, I also bought it from Jungles this year, and ...

Strelitzia
My strelitzia has flowers on it, the first bud is just opening and its a double headed one, I am surprised.
Seems the wrong time of year to me... has anyone else got a strellie flowering at the moment?
Second lot of flowers this year, though!

Re: My brug
I bought mine the same time as Mark and at the moment as far as flowers are concerned, I've got 'didlely' :( I bought 2 plants, exactly same plants, one flowered like crazy, the other has not obliged, so you can 'influence' the flowers by feeding & conditions. I do feed mine pretty well though,...

Re: A few Brug buds at at last
Seed rarely comes true to colour, most plants grown from seed are white...
You need to proprogate from plant material to maintain the colour.
Well done to get such growth in one year though.

But you probably should have stopped feeding them by now if you want them to go dormant over winter. I'm happy to go on taking the flowers at the moment, the weather has been so strange this year, who knows when they will come in... I keep stuff out as long as I can. I don't do anything by date / s...
