Sorry, I mean when I've brought the maurelii out of storage and they start to grow a bit then fill with water and are set back. On one last year I had to cut it down to the ground in June but grew back again. (no pups were produced)

I've overwintered Maurilei (sp) in this way for last three winters. Only problem I've has is that they start to grow a new leaf or two in spring and then the rain collects in the leaves and causes them to go soggy and kill the growing point. They've recovered from this but putsthem back a long way.

I picked up 5 Phoenix canariensis_CIDP from B and Q for £2.49 each! They are about 3ft tall and were originally priced at £14.99 each. They are in desperate need of potting on but the leaves are all still bright green so should hopefully do well next year. (kept in the garage for now)

I think your right eyefi, most are just your regular Trachycarpus so if they were all from the same supplier then you would expect they were all grown in the same conditions. The fact that 5 or 6 are so much taller suggests that they are a different form and not just been stretched by growing condit...

I've got one of these for £35 too as they seem a bargain at this price. The one I got is roughly six foot tall and looks very different from your average Trachycarpus.

I've just bought a dozen coco-yams /eddoes from the market today and only cost £2.30. I did the same in 2009 and they all grew into good plants.
