Re: Gardeners World Live 2012, who has been?
Been going for the last 8 or 9 years or so & have generally enjoyed it, although the last few years imo it has deteriorated both in the quality of the show gardens & number of plant sellers, to the point which after last years show me & the mrs said we wouldn't go this year but make it e...

Re: Best Cyatheas
I have a Brownii which although a little more tender than a Cooperi I've found it has MUCH bigger leaves & grows at a faster rate. I've had a Medularis in the past & I rate this higher

Re: Cyathea roots

Thanks anyway icon_thumright I could never risk planting them out permanently here in Shropshire, gets too cold for too l...

Cyathea roots
I have 3 Cyathea's (1Brownii, 2 Cooperi) & I'm toying with the idea of planting them into the ground then digging them back up just before the frosts return so I can safely over winter them. How would they handle the root disturbance & how much extra roots will they have put on? Might seem a...

Re: T rex rooting
As i had tonnes of pups coming up last year I did an experiment with them,I tried some as regular cuttings in compost & some in water, the ones in water although did root they did so much more slowly than the ones in compost & they had a higher failure rate

Re: Heating greenhouses (polycarbonate)
If you can line the inside with bubble wrap for the winter it will make a HUGE difference to the temps & the amount of time the heater has to be on

Re: My echium which i hope flowers this year!
So do you just lift them & pot them for winter...? I sow them in pots early in the year (no later than early April) & pot them on into larger & larger pots,( bigger than you might think as the root system is big) never let them become rootbound or dry out & over winter in a cool gre...
