Starbucks Free Coffee
Well, the waste anyway. A friend of mine brings me these which are free and weigh about 2 kg. On the front it has a label which says "Ground coffee for your garden".
Do you just dig them in and use as a soil improver? I'm not really sure.

Re: Bird of Paradise nearly there
Gary, I have a small Mandelas's gold which has four leaves on. I left it in the greenhouse over winter and not surprisingly has done nothing for months. I forgot about it 'til I seen your reply and decided to bring it into the house for a bit of TLC - try to kick-start it into doing something. When ...

Re: Dasylirion wheeleri
Barry, yours looks about the same size as mine only in better condition now. Is that slate at the bottom of your plant? Would that be to attract heat or help keep water out or neither? How old was yours when it flowered Melissa and what colour are they? Strange isn't it, I imagined it to flower from...

Re: T-Rex on the move
Mine stopped growing late last year and hasn't done anything since. I keep checking on it and when we had that nice weather about a month ago, I thought it was on the go, but alas, no, it feel back into dormancy. As we speak we have strong winds here, so hope that the new leaf buds don't dry up too ...

Re: Dasylirion wheeleri
Hi and thank you all for your warm welcome. Mark - never had problems with it on this scale before - have had the odd brown patch on one or two leaves, but that's it. I have never protected it all the years it's been planted out. It's definitely a wheeleri - bluey green and doesn't have the tufted t...

Re: Ricinus Seedlings
I grow a batch of Ricinus Z. each year but never start them until at least April. I find they grow so quickly they soon play catchup. I wonder if these have been overwatered at some stage and together with low light levels has resulted in failure. If some of mine decide not to germinate, I throw the...

Hello all, Have been lurking for a while, like the forum, and so decided to participate. A bit about myself. I live in coldest Hereford and have been tropical gardening for about 5 - 6 years. It gets damn cold in my garden and always have a minus seven or eight each winter - semi rural with fields f...
