Re: Rhodochiton

Kevin Scales up at Stalham, north east of Norwich, uses Rhodochiton to good effect, scrambling up through his Trachycarpus. Definitely on my wish list for use with palm trunks icon_thumright I'm trying this this year, It was one that I kept from last year and has just started growing again. I hope ...

Re: Melianthus Major

Trying these from seed now, they have been sown for about 2 months but haven't had any luck so far. I do like these and like Karl lost one a while back and couldn't understand why mine died when everyone else was reporting theirs was growing. Anyway, if my seeds decide to germinate, I shall be thril...

Re: Rhodochiton

You should get some this year Otorongo. I'm sure I got some the same year as sowing, but it was a while ago so could be seeing through rose tinteds.

Re: Seedling ID?

Hi Tim, just caught up with this thread, and am guessing that it is a Dracaena Draco that you've got. I've just bought my seedling out of the greenhouse and looks very much like yours does. I also got one a few years ago (looked exactly the same) from Wyvale, stuck at the back indoors, dried out com...

Re: hardiness red cordyline vs. Phoenix canariensis_CIDP

Seen a few tall red Cordylines around here in folks' front gardens, but never seen a Phoenix canariensis_CIDP of any size, except the small starter ones from the local sheds which I noticed weren't there the next year. There was a beautiful red one which I used to admire on the way to work, but the ...

Re: Germinating Schefflera seeds

Did you cover them over after sowing or leave them open? Congrats on your germination icon_thumleft Di I left them uncovered. I don't like covering seeds if I can help it as I think it increases the chance of mould and fungus growth. Being in the bathroom the air was pretty moist at times. Thanks K...

Re: Which schefflera ?

I'm afraid I'm sticking up for the Taiwaniana, mainly because it's still with me and growing well now after that bad Winter and I'm thinking/hoping if it can get through that Winter, it will be fine from now on and only get bigger and stronger as the years go on. As for the Rhododendrifolia, it's be...

Re: Germinating banana seed in perlite??

I don't think banana seeds, cannas and the like, mind much what they are germinated in as long as they have enough moisture, heat and air. Mine tend not to be in the prop long as I usually pot on pretty quickly anyway once they have germinated (probably quicker than most do) but that's just my way. ...

Both San, but all fell through the day before signing - first in the chain, so have to stay here for a while. Was left with a dug up garden and winter on its way :(
