Amazing Maderia.

I got back from Madeira last week and took loads of photos. A small selection are shown below. The first is the view from hotel (Pestana Garden Village Resort) towards the Miramar hotel next door. 20181022_184359_HDR.jpg This was my hotel although I wasn't located in one of these rooms. I had a view...

Amazing Maderia.

Glad you had a great time in Madeira Karl. I am off there for a week in mid October and I'm looking forward to it a lot. It's the first week away with the wife where we've not had the kids with us. I'll post some pictures on my return.

Overwintering Agaves

Blimey, it's almost like another country. I am in Berkshire and we didn't get any snow and the lowest it got was -5 deg C I think. We seem to be quite lucky here with the weather regarding extremes.

Hope your plants are recovering now.

Overwintering Agaves

That's a cracking photo Dave. Was that taken in 2010? I don't remember many other years that we've had much snow down south. It's a bit weird thinking of over wintering at this early stage and just a few months after the heat wave. It only seems like two minutes since we were uncovering things from ...

Overwintering Agaves

There are a few ongoing jobs to do. I didn't seal the ends with tape and I should have, but then I plan to run brown silicone along all the edges to stop water running inside the frames. That's a job for this weekend. The agaves are Agave Americana I think. The green variety. The polycarbonate came ...

Overwintering Agaves

Hello Folks, I had a spare few hours last weekend and so I set about thinking of how I'd protect the Agaves this year. These are new in the garden this year although the plants are a few years old now. They've grown a lot this summer and I am generally happy with them. When I planted them my initial...

Moving T-Rex

I've never had issues moving this plant. I've moved mine around and replanted quite a few times. As mentioned this plant propagates from pups and is quite prolific. If you grow it you have to like it as it spreads and this can be quite some distance from the parent plant. I think it's amazing and do...

Okay, no problem. I have lots on the go and there are plenty for forum growers to go around. I'll ping you in March/April time when I am in the area.

Exotic gardening weekly returns.

Another great video Kris. Having done just one video I know just how much time, effort and planning goes into them. They are great and I hope you manage to remain motivated to continue. I guess thinking of new video ideas will eventually be a problem?

Until then keep 'em coming.

Looks like Musa Cavendish to me. Definitely a banana. £3.50 is a bargain for this plant.

Thanks Kris.

If you want some of the plants I have loads and can drop them at yours the next time I am in Barnsley. Best to take them in Spring if you are limited for space in the greenhouse over winter. If that's not an issue you can have them now.

First Youtube video

Hi folks, I decided to do a YouTube video on propagation of Eupatorium Capillifolium 'elegant feather'. After much fannying about with sound clips and deleting most of them as I couldn't stand the sound of my own voice I have finally got a video uploaded. I don't think I'm a natural YouTuber  ,...

30% Off Ensete bananas

I got a lovely Ensete from Wyevale GC today. I paid £9.80 at the till as they were marked up at £14. I seemed to have done well as all the others were marked up at £16 and were slightly smaller. The one I bought was 2-3 feet tall and wide at the base. If anyone else wants one then pop down to Wyeval...

Butia Capitata - dead, dying or alive?

There's been no such thing as cold water here for months. It's coming out of the tap at 25 deg C :-)
