This was my hedychium last year, it did flower late though, just a week before the first frost

San what did you do to over winter with this, I've just brought one off ebay and they say its the most hardy of all gingers and they can take at least -7.

Are you sure that is a densiflorum?

It looks like H.spicatum to me.

Compare with the pictures at John Jerrard's site.

It is still a lovely plant though.

I have left mine in the ground lee, i gave a good 4inches of compost and some straw on top, as i also read that these are pretty hardy, and mine came from ebay too.

Rhizome is how it looks at current coddy. My hedychium aurantiacum is still in growth from last year. :) I will start my spicatum off next month i think or may be the month after.

Nice photo's Simon and well done for getting them to flower so well. The only one that reliably flowers for me is Assam Orange.
