Hello Mr list, Im after one of the following, clematis Armandii or Fatshedera lizei, both look like great tropical plants.

Maybe Hedera colchica?

Compare with the Common Ivy at left edge of pic.

I'd 2nd the Clematis Armandi, which not only has large evergreen leaves, they are an interesting shape, very dark green and very shiny, which says "tropical creeper" to me.

And you get lovely fragrant white flowers too.

i should have mentioned i already have a type of ivy, marengo, for one part.

i thought clemetis armandii was perfect until i read a single leaf can kill a dog  .

pets make gardening so much harder.
no lillies of any kind, now no armandii ...... .....

How large is the space?

What direction does it face?

Does it need to be self clinging, or is there a support for twining?

The biggest evergreen leaves for growing against a wall would be for wall trained shrubs such as Magnolia grandiflora [if you have a wall space of 10M in every direction!].

Chad.

Found this: http://www.growsonyou.com/question/show/36764
Growing Clematis armandii isn't likely to be a problem. The response by 'thepoisongarden' says it all.

What about Hydrangea seemannii? I just bought one for a north-facing fence as apparently they grow well in shade. Evergreen leaves and beautiful flowers to boot!

Just not sure how reliably hardy it would be but maybe worth a shot?

Mister List, tell me about it, I've been after some plants to cover a 10ft high wooden fence, but will not take the whole place over, and I've run wires up and down and across the fence for what ever I decide to plant icon_thumleft
