same has happened with me tulips, so they have al got blue pellets scattered a round them :)
To be honest it did need re-potting as the roots had started to wrap around the soil in the shape of the pot shape.

It Pinianna or someting San i had lots the year before this is the only one standing it had a split in stem .If you plant them you need space as the leaves are wide 3 feet plus .And lots of slug pellets as slugs love them .If you replant be careful with the roots .

thanks for the advice derrick :), i do have a place for it sorted but its in part shade in early morning and full sun afternoon do you think this will be ok?

Yeh sounds ok they do like water it will take of soon.

i potted all mine up for the winter , and popped them in the poly tunnel, all have gone brown, but i will check the roots to see if there is any sign of life if not il have to grow again :D

Just a quick update on my echium :)

This has really took off since give it a dose of fish,blood,bone. If anyone hasn't tried this then IMO try it, mine loves it and the foilage look very lush :DD
