Plant I.D. please

Was given this by my neighbor and would like to know what it is, the mother plant gets to about 5 feet tall by the end of summer then dies back a lot over the winter,

Yep Acanthus Mollis.

and not something you want to leave in the ground.spreads like bird flu and is a nightmare to get rid of.i planted one from a cornwall nursery telling me it was well behaved,followed the advice from here and binned it. this year so far i have 2 new plants up at least a foot frome where it was planted
