Plant ID's plus an interesting trait on a Pieris..
Here's a Pieris with what looks like red bark, it's unusual to see a trunk on a Pieris, but my Pieris at home has a dull brown colour. Is this a different type of Pieris? I'm a sucker for plants/trees with red bark!
Also can anyone ID these two plants for me?
Re: Plant ID's plus an interesting trait on a Pieris..
the bottom ones Justicia, the shrimp plant. the top one is, er, um.............brain fade!
Re: Plant ID's plus an interesting trait on a Pieris..
the first picture is it not a strawberry tree ??
Re: Plant ID's plus an interesting trait on a Pieris..
Actually it might be, my first instinct was Arbutus, actually it might be the case, since Arbutus and Pieris flowers look pretty similar.bobbyd44 wrote:the first picture is it not a strawberry tree ??
ps thanks for the ID on Justicia brandegeana - these seem alot hardier than I thought they would be.. albeit no chance of getting hold of one.

I agree with the ID's so far.
The second one is a Pentas, probably P.lanceolata
Chad.

Another ditto to Arbutus on the first pic. Can you get a close-up? That would help to tell which species.
