Best place to buy a Paulownia - preferably established?

You can't buy an established one unless it comes with a a couple of cubic metres of soil. You buy a potted one and then plant out, it then establishes itself over time. To be quite honest I think small plants establish much quicker than big ones

Get some seed Cordy, the pictures of mine on the Gardenjot thingy are 2 years from seed.

I'd prefer a small plant then to seed if it saves me an extra year of waiting

I got a 4ft plant from ebay in Feb, cost me £20.

I planted it out and it's doing well, rooting itself in nicely and putting out some small but healthy looking leaves.

I'll coppice it ready for next spring and hopefully will get some big leaves next summer.

There is a debate over whether you should coppice young plants as it may set them back, or in worst case see them off. There has to be enough bulk, and energy, to start them off in spring.

Quite expensive in the local GC's to say they are easy and quick from seed.

Would you recommend just pollarding it back to a single stem?

i also want a really tall one, must be some place.. i know wyveale east do established ones... but they didnt look that great when i saw them just a big old stump and more bushy growth i suspect..

Full sun and sheltered if possible as summer winds can rip the leaves and make them look scruffy

When i bought mine a few years ago it was around 7 foot tall and covered in flower buds. I let it do it's thing and flower, the scent was amazing.
Ever since i pollarded it, but this year i have left it to grow from last years growth.
I bought it from bashley plant centre in hampshire, just on the edge of the new forest.
