Cavendish Red Pup Pupping ?

Post by musa_monkey »

This is odd. i have this Cavendish Red pup which is starting to grow well. I have been keeping it under a 6400k light to extend the amount of light it gets.
Here it is:

Notice the tiny tiny blob of green to the right of the base of the stem.
Here's a close up:

I delicately pushed back the compost and it does seem to be a pup coming from the side of the base of the plant. Not seen this before on a pup so young anyone know if its common ?

I've had a similar occurrence on a young M. zebrina which was less than one year old but the small pups all faded away. M. thompsonii has produced a dual plant from one seed which I assumed was a fluke but it has happened continually with several sowings of the same seed. On separating the two plants there are two distinct corms attached to each other.
