Henry wrote:The tree ferns when I went were way too expensive, they were after £100 for a 3 foot trunked one! I was asked how much I would offer, I said £10ish a foot but they were after near the £100 mark. Not worth the effort of digging it up when you can get them for £20 a foot.
The large chamerops inside I don't think you can get them, they will need ALOT of digging out with machinery, Chester zoo with have them.
Theres no plants in the italian garden worth the time and effort removing, there are some acers, but there price there after you could get the in a pot nicely establish.
I`m glad I didn`t go now, thanks. Just spent the money I saved at Amulree icon_thumright

go for it Henry icon_thumright whip a couple out by mistake too, they arent likely to make you put them back are they
if your blackboy is well established, take the biggest rootball possible, these are tap rooted and the smaller roots rely on some fungus in the rootball to survive. the more you take, the better its chance is of surving the move. dont think i need tell you that really though, already seen what you can do digging plants out icon_thumleft icon_thumleft

Loads of bananas, cannas, lilleys left and a few ferns, plus loads of house plants.

The remaining indoor palms are too big to move, looking like this

Well done Cordy, You did well.

I don’t know what the tree ferns are and neither did the gardeners because the owner of the palm used to bring plants back from his holidays and just plant them without a label.

Where abouts was the palm as i never saw it?

Cordy the main thing other than your haul is that You seem to have annoyed Goggle

Also the Musa is cavendish. They had bananas every year on those in the palms.

Goggle which one is the cycad?

Best to uproot the Cavendish and store in greenhouse over winter?

The palm was in the bird aviery LOL planted 24 years ago she said so even though the offshoot was small i was contending with big palm roots too!

It's a 7ft monster, not a Revoluta, It has tall elegant fronds that point skyward. Musa posted a pic of it in his thread earlier.

Not that big I wouldn't think, probably only a 20-30L pot sized root system.

Ferns look like a Blechnum of some kind, maybe Chilense
