Re: Oreopanax floribundus
I think MikeC's trying to say it looks like this, but it doesn't really - any enforcement officer would know it wasn't.Mr List wrote:that's what my mam said when i showed her the pciture of it before.MikeC wrote:Looks like it should be growing in a warehouse in Amsterdam.

Re: Oreopanax floribundus
Very interesting looking plant.
Did you take any more photos at the show as I would love to see them.

Re: Oreopanax floribundus
I thought it looked good too.
Immature foliage is less 'extreme' though.

Re: Oreopanax floribundus
Chad, what are your thoughts on its potential hardiness?
Re: Oreopanax floribundus
Even Crug are being careful to say 'not yet tested' so I doubt it will take a British winter out doors.
Except posibly in West Cornwall.
Chad
ps.it won't be risked outside unless I have gotten a cutting to take, and it is dioecious so I'll never get seed.

Re: Oreopanax floribundus
Hmm, could do without anything else that needs overwintered indoors, I think I'll stroke it off the list again.
Thanks Chad.

Re: Oreopanax floribundus
how big were the leaves on the bigger ones they had at the show, the mature leaves?
i am planting mine out, might not last the nasty cold like last feb without some help but i have a good feeling it might be ok with most normal winters.
ps
these pictures come up in google under Oreopanax floribundum
i bloody hope this is a good few plants and not just one it's massive!

Re: Oreopanax floribundus
Crug say the leaves can be up to 1M across, but the ones on show were half that.
Just to complicate things, I think the 'right' name is Oreopanax incisus - but Google doesn't help much with pictures for that.
I like your pictures, they suggest it may sucker so it might be easier to propagate.
Chad.
