Hi All
I am planting one of my Phoenix canariensis_CIDP's out. I've dug the hole below and have noticed that the soil is rather grey in places. Is this something fungal? Also, are there too many roots in the way for the Phoenix canariensis_CIDP? I've cleared what i can but its old ground.
Thanks for your help guys

what was in the ground before? I'd say the grey stuff could be mycorrhizal fungi which makes bonds between the nutrients in the soil and plants roots
I'd put some nice john innes and fresh compost in around the palm and it'll be fine

I'd agree 100%, also it looks really dry in that hole, dig it way oversize and add loads of soil improverAddictedtopalms26 wrote:what was in the ground before? I'd say the grey stuff could be mycorrhizal fungi which makes bonds between the nutrients in the soil and plants roots

wouldn't a dry hole at this time of year be good for a cdip?
