Cordyline Obtecta

Post by targui »

This Cordyline is native to the Islands just to the north of New Zealand, and Norfolk Island further north and
to the west. It is probably nearly as hardy as Cordyline Australis but grows naturally in a complete maritime
situation.

Thats a very tidy looking plant. Have to keep my eyes open for one. Of course a friendly kiwi could go on a seed collecting trip

I've got three small Cordyline Kaspar which I believe is the same as Obtecta.

What's noticeable about them is how deep green they are.

Cordyline Kaspar is synonymous with Obtecta. Kaspar was renamed Obtecta when it was found to be
the same as the species at Norfolk island which was classified as Obtecta.

There are different varieties of obtecta - I have 3x types which all show significant variation in leaf shape, texture, colour and form.
Also trunk thickness is very different.
They also have different hardiness levels. But all of them are more tender than C. australis
