deepest shade

Post by Mr List »

i am looking for plants that will grow as ground cover for the most deep of deepest shade

ie

under bushes against a north facing fence on a shady site.

in these dark places i have had some ferns wither away so i am looking for actual first hand experience with deep dark thrivers rather than just a list of shade loving plants from a book.

Helleborus varieties always do alright for me in complete shade.

I also have various Chrysosplenium. They like it moist and shady.

What you are describing sounds more like a request for plants that grow in the dark..... plastic ones do best  or get a solar light with a remote solar panel.
Best regards

Have you considered Nandina?

Mine is thriving tucked between a North facing and an East facing fence beneath a Trachycarpus in the shadow of the house. It doesn't get much shadier than that.

nandina is a bush, not ground cover for under a bush.
