Time to unwrap your plants again

Post by RogerBacardy »

Well, for most of us in the UK at least. The far South West should be fine, though :)

Sunday and Monday the temps will be hovering around zero day and night, so I'll want to wrap / cover vulnerable plants on Friday.

We've got lows of -4 predicted this weekend :ahhh!:

I propose we hire some tugs and tow the UK a tad closer to the equator.

Nearly everything I had in my garage is now outside albiet in a protected position. Bunged some fleece in the top if the Dicksonia antarctica and hoping for the best.

IF the current modelled weather arrives we could be looking at widely below -7C! I'll be covering my trachies and cordylines on Saturday.
Most wanted list - Any Young Trachycarpus and/or fern.

Only a handful to protect. I have far more potted items to return to the greenhouse after airing them outside pre-christmas.

All the car windscreens were frozen this morning when I left for work and at 3 o'clock this afternoon it was just hovering above freezing. I only know this as the building inspector came out when we were pouring a load of concrete and he had a fancy thermomoter.

A quick look on weather underground and the 'heat island' effect is quite apparent.

wouldn't want to be in your shoes.
after how long you have been saving so many of those plants in pots waiting for the new house, you must be a nervous wreck having to leave them to the elements now.
