Re: British Summertime Starts Sunday 31st
Since I retired early, I don't bother with changing my clocks, wearing a watch and all that stuff - any clocks remain on BST which confuses the hell out of visitors in the Winter!
Having worked at Heathrow for many years, my day revolved around time - arrival - departure and all that stuff.
The worst thing was that North America changes their daylight saving time around 1 - 2 weeks before the UK.
I still find it daft that the clocks go back 7 weeks before the shortest day and then, we have to wait 13-14 weeks after the shortest day. Totally silly. just do it on the Spring equinox instead.
Oh well, BST has arrived so let's hope we get some good weather for a change.
I now look-back with fond memories of when it was so hot the tarmac would melt and some silly news reporter would attempt to fry an egg on a car bonnet......Happy days!

Cameron talking about leaving us on BST all year round, but nothing came of it. I'd love to keep the extra hour of light in the evenings all through winter. Driving to work in the dark FTW
Re: British Summertime Starts Sunday 31st
do you guys now class this as Summer or Spring?
I still see it as Spring until June 21st. Or do you view it as the period of summer?

Each year there is the same old chestnut about staying on BST. Perhaps when Scotland becomes independent - and they can have their own time zone..............?

The clocks changing is about adsjusting our lives more in tune with solar time, nothing to do with seasonscordyman wrote:do you guys now class this as Summer or Spring?

It's been changed to DST (Daylight Saving Time) as light conditions before 5am are not required by most of the population where as most are up way after dark in the evening
Best regards

Some pics from my (later than normal) morning jog, about 9am this morning. Frosty but sunny.
A nice way to start Easter Sunday and the first day of BST. Went swimming with family after then went to a Toby Carvery for sunday roast. Makes a change from me cooking it!
