8 quid delivered????..... even if it was made from the cheapest stuff known to man, i can't imagine it being that cheap. but she has 20k purchases and 99.5% rating.... worth a punt just for curiosity!
so is this designed to hang off sealing or run through the plants like a soaker hose?
sprinkler for misting in greenhouse
Re: sprinkler for misting in greenhouse
That's what I thought and I think I'll grab one before long. Got some planters that dry out rapidly and are then difficult to re-wet, water just runs down the sides, becomes a real chore at times. With that baby I could stand back and drink a beer while it does work for me.
That one would probably be best off running through beds/planters etc, but if it had sprayers instead of drippers it would be perfectly suited to hanging off the ceiling, spraying from above.

I wouldn't want to mass-propagate mine either!rajah99 wrote:Also the mother in law sits in the room at times in the day, and i can just imagine what an earful id get if the automatic misting started when she was in there.
Suggest you get a spray gun that has both Mist and Fan. Mist takes a long time to "coat" plants (of reasonable size), but is superb for gently watering tiny seedlings.
Mine started to leak within 12/18 months (but I did leave it connected (i.e. to high pressure supply) and lying in the sun - which may not have helped). I replaced it with the Hozelock "brass connector" one which, 2 seasons in, seems to be OK. Had to wait for the right-price on the right-day though before I coughed up!!
Re: sprinkler for misting in greenhouse
I reckon this is the one I have:
http://www.hozelock.com/watering/spray- ... 8-172.html
"Locking trigger, and variable flow from the rear flow control
Seven spray patterns : powerful Jet for cleaning, fast fill for filling up buckets and watering cans, fine mist for seedlings, rose for gentle watering, fan spray for rinsing soap off cars, cone spray for delicate watering and aerated.
Three year guarantee."
FWIW the "plastic" one I had before:
http://www.hozelock.com/watering/spray- ... 4-172.html
has a "Two year guarantee." - which is exactly how long it lasted
"Two stage locking trigger, lock at 100% flow and 40% flow.
Six spray patterns : Powerful Jet for cleaning, Fast fill for filling up buckets and watering cans, Fine mist for seedlings, High definition metal rose for gentle watering, Fan spray for rinsing soap off cars, Cone spray for delicate watering."
I did find the variable-squeeze trigger handy (including being able to lock it at "half flow"), using one hand to water and the other to move plants / leaves about etc.
Both had "aerated" mode [can't see that described for the plastic one now], this is just a stream of water, but contains some air, and doesn't violently dislodge the soil in pots. I use that mode for watering pots of anything large as the flow rate is good, and I switch to "rose" watering on small plants / pots then need a bit more gentle water-delivery.
I use the "Powerful Jet for cleaning" (which isn't anything of the sort, it is just forcing the water through a small hole!) for reaching plants at the back, in an arc!!, when the greenhouse is so stuffed in Winter that I can't get to them.
But its mostly just more-gadgets of course! but the fact that I do actually use all the settings perhaps suggests that they are useful in practice.

Re: sprinkler for misting in greenhouse
what is needed is an atomizer
I used to live on a 6 acre smallholing in South Africa, and my neighbour used to grow veg in large greenhouses .... (he grew them out of season so as to get the best prices)
He had a computersed system that was connected to atomizers .... when the temperature was too high, the atomizers used to spray a very fine mist of water from above, and cooled the whole greenhouse in seconds ....
it was similar to this:

Re: sprinkler for misting in greenhouse
cheap doesnt have to mean tacky. If he used a empty tomato tin with the label removed, he'd have a lovely chrome effect spray head.
