Spotty Dotties

Post by DiCasS »

I know some of us grow these and have flowered this year, but has anyone grown them from the seed. I have a few seed pods on mine which I'd like to try but not sure whether they are ready or not, some look shriveldy but others are quite plump. When's the best time to pick? He's a pick of what they look like now.

I'll have to go check mine, once I've eaten dinner. You can't see them easily as they form under the leaves.
Best regards

Dave, only by chance that I noticed these, was weeding underneath and picked up the leaves, else I would have missed them.

I think the seed pods are quite attractive Kata, a shame they are not more noticeable from above. The flowers are hidden as well, those to me are beautiful too, a lovely red.

Thanks Call, I wasn't sure when to pick, there are some (that I called the shriveldy ones) which seem not to have formed properly, pulled one apart and are quite thick and fleshy, but no sign of seed yet - left the rest. Mind, mine haven't long fnished flowering, so have to give them time I suppose.

Is your sight clearer after dinner Dave...

Well, he does similar to me.

They made me think of nice elongated earings Di. Red is my favorite color.

The plant in the above pic  Podophyllum 'Spotty Dotty' affectionately known as Spotty Dotty, but suspect you already knew that

Did you find any Dee?

I know the genus Podophyllum (mayapples), but never heard of the term "spotty dotty" before (and the pic wasn't enough for identification)

Such a lovely looking plant I remember seeing daves when i went round. If anyone has any luck with growing from seed i would be interested in a seedling or two if there are any spare. Ive had a look round localy for these but not seen them anywere. Good luck on trying them. icon_thumleft
