Alocasia 'Big Boy' Calidora, has finally come through the flowering stage so should start to produce BIG leaves again.
It has not been a good year for 'Big Boy' so far, as the delayed spring pushed flowering back towards summer, and then high winds destroyed the existing BIG leaves
The top 1ft is due to be removed and rooted as the whole plant is now too tall to go back into the conservatory.
There seem to be two distinct forms of A x Calidora around. One grows medium sized leaves, and pups like crazy, the other, which 'Big Boy' belongs to, produces supersized leaves with very few pups. I'm quite happy to forgo pups to get the really big leaves.
It loves the weather we had yesterday with max temp 31.8C and min 17.2C with high humidity. A new leaf started yesterday and is now about 18" (45cm)

Do you have to chop the leaves off to make it root?Dave Brown wrote: The top 1ft is due to be removed and rooted as the whole plant is now too tall to go back into the conservatory.:
