Ronseal or Cuprinol

I'm looking to preserve my drecking /pergola i was in the market for decking oil when my neighbour gave me a 5 litre tin of ronseal decking protector i understand it is different from the oil so can someone recommend a brand and will i use the oil or protector icon_sunny icon_sunny icon_sunny

dont!

paint your decking and you will have to do it every year ....

rather paint with yacht varnish, but get a good one

just a ronseal decking protector i use if you a colour, in winter it just peels off

Always use clear or natural.

It is personal choice :wink: but if you use a colour then it is difficult to go back to natural at some point in the future.

Definitely dont paint. Worst thing I did with mine. Replacing all mine next spring and will oil it.
Most wanted list - Any Young Trachycarpus and/or fern.

Le Tonkinois yacht varnish is what I would use .... amazing stuff and non slip (search google)

I will be varnishing my hifi speaker cabinets with this ...(old B&W DM2 transmission speakers)

Seems that screwfix own brand no nonsense decking oil wins for me got some great reviews and works out £10 cheaper than the branded ones icon_salut

year 1 I used "Ronseal decking finish" the first year, after winter it was a mess

year 2 I used Cuprinol Ultimate, and looked the best coming out of winter...

year 3 went back to ronseal and it already is wearing away, chair feet scuffed it easy etc
