Canary Island date palm, to move or not to move...?

I was moving pots around today and noticed my potted Canary Island Date Palm is forcing its way out of its pot by the roots pushing down. It was potted up into its present pot last spring after doing the same. I'm going to have to pot it up again or plant it in the ground, although option 2 has issues with space and all the best spots and sun traps are taken. It was bought about 2 and half years ago and has doubled in size. I've noticed it has quite short fronds which I believe is a good thing as it has adapted to its climate. I think a much bigger pot for spring is the first thing.

Hi!
I potted the canary date palm roots back to get it every year. This plant can tolerate a 50% loss of their roots.
Each year, pushes the clay itself.

I'll post a picture of the roots when I pot mine up in the spring, you can see them poking through the hole underneath. I would put that one in a larger pot.
