when to transplant agapanthus?

I want to move some agapanthus alba, its not an evergreen type

do you know when is best to dig it up?

here is a pretty picture of it to brighten the thread up a bit

Anytime if u get plenty of it and don't leave leave root.

They like the roots to be compact.

I've only ever transplanted a blue flowering type twice in mid- Autumn - one replanted complete and the other divided for more plants. Both flowered again the following year with half the number of divisions from a ten year old clump still carrying single blooms.

They are pretty tough plants and to be honest we tend to work on them when we get time not when it suits them. Now I would probably wait till spring but given that you are on the IOW I would happily lift them now as long as they are transplanted straight away.

Id move them now before the cold hits if not wait until next spring. Just ensure they arent too wet over winter. They flower just as well in my boarders as in pots. So although they like to be potted its not required.
Most wanted list - Any Young Trachycarpus and/or fern.
