There is expected to be flooding at the bottom of the hill next to the marshes about 250 yards from me. I should be ok though as at 13m asl.

Little damage here...though there was widespread closure of the transport system. Winds seem benign given the flooding in parts of England and Wales. My Agave house (coldframe) was my only casualty and it is now in rehab.

Just been looking at the news, whilst the damage was nowhere as bad as threatened on the east coast we should spare a thought for the few people whose houses were swept into the sea! I suspect they will be uninsured as the insurance companies will not touch them. I know this from my own experiences in trying to get my house insured because I live on a floodplain, despite the fact the house has never been flooded in its one hundred and ten years existence. Someone's hopes and dreams have been destroyed. A devastating day for them. :(

Highest water levels here since 1953. That was the year we had massive floodings and protection against high seas was developed.

Seems the protection worked allright, no floodings reported as far as I know. Looks like we have more to fear from high waterlevels at the rivers nowadays than from the sea.

If there were NO reports of any flooding over there, Eddie, your defenses must work brilliantly as today the news reported that the storm surge was the worst on record.

no tide threats here but this shapeing up to be the worst winter in 10 or so years..we had a arctic storm come last night and drop 3 inchs of snow..more sleet and ice Sunday and temps are projected to drop to - 16 or -17 sometime next week...horrible over here as well
