maybe it's too mild for hellebore flower initiation - maybe they require some form of hardish frost for early flowering.. my only explanation since everything else is doing well
Re: Daffodils in January? and some signs of the mild winter.
Daffs are just poking there heads up and my snow drops are now making an appearance. weeds growing well but i can't see to them as the ground is far to wet and i seriously think my grass is growing?

This can't be right surely, apple/cherry blossom?
Not only that its at the farm, in a natural valley, so no microclimate going on.

My Hellebore are flowering and the last 2 weeks of November were frosty, so you could be correct Stephen.stephenprudence wrote:maybe it's too mild for hellebore flower initiation - maybe they require some form of hardish frost for early flowering.. my only explanation since everything else is doing well

Lovely flowers Stevie!!
What month do Fritilaris begin, I ask because I had two and they looked a bit mushy from the packet.
Who is asleep in your garden Cordy.....

Re: Daffodils in January? and some signs of the mild winter.
Just had a proper check of my plants to see what is growing. So far i have.
Clematis
honeysuckle
peony
Trachycapus Fortunei (very slowly)
Echium Pinianna
rose nodes opening.
Not plant related, since reading the post on gardeners world about a possible early spring and signs of wildlife, i can say i to have seen a blue tit this morning and black bird. On the back one of the echium leaves i found a harlequin ladybird with another ladybird by its side but that was not a harlequin.
